MARIA AND THE COINS | 9:30 PM
Maria and the Coins bundle big-picture pop ambition into earnest, indie sensibility. The five-some fuses singer-songwriter driven pop hooks with the vulnerability and honesty of an indie band. Frontwoman Maria Coyne's powerhouse vocals are matched with emotive storytelling often focused on finding the light amidst a chaotic world. While the writing features nods to Coyne’s pop, country and theatre roots, the music finds its sweet spot behind alternative rock-influenced arrangements resulting in a sound often likened to Sara Bareilles, Michelle Branch, and James Bay. The band has opened for touring artists such as Christina Perri, Haley Reinhart, Betty Who, and Forest Blakk.

GUIDON BEAR | 8:15 PM
Mary Water & Pat Maley first met at a test-tube baby reunion but after a spirited debate about the sustainability of goat rodeos, they parted ways on tense terms.

As fate would have it, they met again during a failed audition for season 2 of Jersey Shore. They reconciled in the warmth of the New Jersey sun and began playing music together when they returned to Olympia, Washington.

They “pay” for their exorbitant acting lessons (in hopes of one day making it onto their favorite reality show) with their day jobs as a middle school teacher & therapeutic grocer.

However, twice a week, after sunset, Mary sneaks into Pat’s garage and plays music as loudly as possible in an attempt to lure Pat out from his home laboratory where he recently discovered a new element after spilling nail polish onto cello bow rosin. The music calms them down and as long as they avoid topics involving goats or rodeos, they appear to get along fairly well.

Last month, upon discovering that they were the first embryos to survive a trial of underfeeding test tube babies, the trio decided to disavow their allegiance to Jersey Shore. They currently deploy a harmonic resonance designed to dismantle the capitalist machine and they plan to record their first Christmas album in 2020, entirely backward.

ADAM HERMANS PRETTY BAND | 7:00 PM
“Born and raised in a small river town in western Illinois, Adam Herman’s songwriting was informed by his roots early on. His songwriting crystallizes aspects of humanity, conveying a keen sense of the gravity in life, while subtly lined with the celebration that is ultimately called for. The songs are complete, strong from start to finish. Herman employs clever conceptual connections that inhabit the entire tune, and sprinkles in powerful lines that feel like brilliant turn-of-phrase. Even more impressive, they are actually densely packed, plain language. They offer a noticing that can only come from a person with great ability to occasionally slow the world down in a way most of us cannot. Illuminating simple facts and realities that are always there, but rarely fully comprehended. Humbly packaged, these lines knock you on your ass.”
