A one-night-only, intimate evening with civil rights icon Ruby Bridges in downtown Elizabeth City.
Join us for a rare opportunity to be in the room with a national civil rights leader whose courage as a six-year-old helped change the course of American history. Ruby’s story — immortalized in Norman Rockwell’s The Problem We All Live With — remains a powerful reminder of what’s possible when bravery meets conviction.
This Mardi Gras-themed evening brings Ruby to Elizabeth City for a celebration of community, culture, and purpose, all in support of Camp Bridges, a transformational summer camp in northeastern North Carolina.
About Camp Bridges
Camp Bridges is a weeklong summer camp for children ages 8–12 that nurtures leadership, confidence, and connection. Rooted in outdoor exploration, creativity, and guided conversations about empathy and courage, the camp reflects Ruby’s belief in the power of childhood experiences to shape strong, compassionate leaders. Proceeds from this event directly support scholarships and programming for future campers.
