Perfect for families and Mardi Gras enthusiasts alike, this free event offers a community-based Mardi Gras parade, where colorful floats and dazzling beads will fill the streets of Downtown OWA. The celebration doesn’t stop there – enjoy live music on OWA Island, participate in the Moon Pie Eating Contest and much more. Bring your family, friends, and your festive spirit, it’s a celebration you won’t want to miss!

Interested in being in the Mardi Gras Parade? Grab your krewe and apply to participate below! Applications for non-profit organizations, including schools, churches, and bands, are free of charge. For businesses, the application fee is $15.

Schedule of Events
- March 1st, 1:00 pm – March 2nd, 8:30: Grab a picture at the neon marquee letter photo op
- 2:00 – 4:00 pm: Live music by 5 MILE BRASS on the OWA Island stage
- 2:00 – 5:00 pm: Face painters and Glitter Tattoos at the Gussie’s Flowerbed
- 2:00 – 6:00 pm, 7:00 – 8:30 pm: Grab a picture with Stilt Walkers who will be roaming Downtown OWA
- 2:00 – 8:30 pm: Fleur-du-lis Chalk Mural at the Native Treasures alcove
- 3:00 pm – until: Moon Pie Eating Contest at the Splashpad | Sign up starts at 2:00 pm | Prizes: First Place: $100, Second Place: $50, Third Place: $25.
- 4:00 pm – until all cakes are gone: King Cake Walk at the Downtown Fountain | Free to participate. *One per person, while supplies last. *
- 4:30 – 6:00 pm, 7:00 – 8:00 pm: Live music by Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. and the Zydeco Twisters on the OWA Island stage
- 6:00 – 7:00 pm: Parade
- 7:30 – until pm: Parade Awards | Best Float: $100, Best Krewe: $100, Best Throws: $100, Best Band: $100, OWA’s Choice: $100. *Winners will be contacted and must come to the OWA Corporate building to pick up their award. *
