Marcus Rezak's Shred is Dead

Marcus Rezak isn’t like everyone else. You could call him a renaissance man or a relentless innovator or status quo foe. The guitarist, singer/songwriter, composer isn’t content to involve himself with any one project. In fact, he’s not content at all. He’s constantly striving for more. The Chicago native is now based in LA, but can be found performing anywhere in the country at any time.

You could say he’s like a lot of guitarists from his generation who draw immeasurable inspiration from Jerry Garcia and Trey Anastasio. He has processed their entire ethos and bottomless well of technique into his own bank. What he does with it is truly remarkable and completely divergent from the well-worn road. Like those men, he has committed himself to fine-tuning his tonal mastery to the point that the music is transmitted to your ears like crystal teardrops flowing from a spring of infinite intrigue.

We’ve previously seen Marcus here at the Crazy Horse with his Gumbo Phish Tribute. For this post-Thanksgiving throwdown event, we will have the pleasure of witnessing his flagship “tribute” project, Shred is Dead. He will be joined by some of the best players in the region to dismantle, dissolve, reanimate and materialize the choicest cuts of the Dead’s songbook. Marcus also seamlessly weaves in some of his original material to accentuate his impressive range. He will be joined by Sunshine Becker Garcia (Furthur, China Dolls) on glorious, powerhouse vocals, Jordan Feinstein (Stu Allen & Mars Hotel) on funky, rambunctious keys, Anna Elva (China Dolls) on groove-centric, octopus drums and David Barsky (The Higgs) on freewheeling, boomerang bass.

Marcus is coming in bursting with inspiration from a banner year which has seen him sitting in with Blues Traveler, performing with LP Giobbi and sharing the stage with DJ Logic and G Love. Bring your friends and relatives for a musical adventure which will have you dancing off every bite of Thanksgiving dinner while expanding your mind.
