Why Swim Lessons? At the Y, we believe knowing how to swim is a critical life skill. Our swim lesson instructors will use a variety of methods to help your child overcome fears, build self-confidence, learn water safety and have fun!
Students learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills: swim, float, swim—sequencing front glide, roll, back float, roll, front glide, and exit—and jump, push, turn, grab. Activities, games, and drills geared to reinforce learning are utilized as students progress in this skill-based approach to swimming.
