Watcher Among the Tombstones: Mary Prendergast's Legacy of Sorrow and HealingPlease join us for this month's luncheon featuring a compelling look at the mother of Jamestown's founder Mary Prendergast by Jenn Champ.
Jenn is the Assistant Director of the James Prendergast Library. Born in Jamestown, she received a BA in English from SUNY Fredonia and is attending the University of Buffalo for a Master of Library and Information Science. Returning to Jamestown in 2008, she worked for the Robert H. Jackson Center and Fenton History Center before joining the library team in 2019. A lover of history, mysteries, and old cemeteries, Jenn will speak about the life of Mary Prendergast, the mother of James Prendergast and the Library's namesake. While researching Jamestown history for the Library's annual Haunted Library Tour, Jenn discovered stories about the lives of Mary and her children, Catherine (Kitty) and James.
Take a journey from Lake Superior in Michigan to a grand 19th-century hotel in Buffalo, and learn more about the history of the Prendergast Family, as well as the "legacies in stone" that Mary left to the citizens of Jamestown.
The Luncheon is by Elegant Edibles.
