**Pre-Registration is REQUIRED for this program.**The March full moon is known as the Worm Moon because it signals the time when the ground begins to warm and earthworms appear. With them comes the return of many migrating birds that feed on the worms. We will walk along the Accessible Bobwhite Trail at Seven Islands by the light of the moon, and discuss the nocturnal animals, including owls, insects, and bats that live in the park. We will look and listen for evidence of them as they emerge from their daytime hiding places.
Please dress for the weather and come prepared to walk approximately 2.5 miles on both paved and unpaved trails. We suggest that you bring flashlights in case they are needed, but ask that you only use them when necessary. Red or other colored lights are preferred.
Registered participants should plan on meeting Ranger Eric at the Bluebird Barn at the main entrance by 7:30pm. Only registered participants will be allowed on the hike and in the park after sunset since the park closes at sunset. Registration is $12 per person (ages 6+ years).
