Book: The Value Gap Female-Driven Films from Pitch to Premiere by Courtney Brannon Donoghue
The Value Gap traces female-driven filmmaking across development, financing, production, film festivals, marketing, and distribution – examining the realities facing women working in the industry during this transformative moment. Drawing from five years of extensive interviews with female producers, writers, and directors at different stages of their careers, Courtney Brannon Donoghue examines how Hollywood business cultures “value” female-driven projects as risky or not bankable.
Film: Promising Young Woman (2020) Dir. Emerald Fennell
Nothing in Cassie’s life is what it appears to be – she’s wickedly smart, tantalizingly cunning, and she’s living a secret double life. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs from the past.
