Som del av Human internasjonale dokumentarfilmfestival 2025 vil Eyal Weizman holde et foredrag om Forensic Architectures etterforskning av krigsforbrytelser og folkemord i Gaza.

I oktober 2024 la Forensic Architecture frem en 800 sider lang rapport, A Carthography of Genocide, som med all tydelighet viser Israels intensjon om å ødelegge infrastruktur og livsgrunnlaget for den palestinske befolkningen på Gazastripen. Rapporten ble utarbeidet etter forespørsel fra Sør-Afrikas rettslige team, i forbindelse med saken mot Israel med anklage om folkemord, i den Internasjonale domstolen (ICJ) i Haag.
Eyal Weizman vil snakke om rapporten og om Forensic Architectures metodiske arbeid i etterforskning.
Eyal Weizman, grunnlegger og leder for Forensic Architecture (FA), har gjennom flere tiår arbeidet i skjæringspunktet mellom kunst, estetikk og menneskerettigheter.

Eyal Weizman (f. 1970) er arkitekt, forfatter, og grunnlegger og leder for Forensic Architecture (2010, London) og søsterorganisasjonen Forensis (2022, Berlin).
Han ble født i Haifa i dagens Israel, men er nå bosatt i London. Han er professor i romlig og visuell kultur (Spatial and Visual Culture) ved Goldsmiths University of London, hvor han også grunnla Centre for Research Architecture.
Weizman har høstet mye anerkjennelse for sine bø¬ker og arbeid, og har bidratt til nytenkning innenfor en rekke fagområder, som arkitektur, estetikk, journalistikk og menneskerettighetsarbeid. Eyal Weizman ble utnevnt til Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) i 2020, og Forensic Architecture ble nylig hedret med «den alternative fredsprisen» Right to Livelyhood Award 2024.
Forensic Architecture (FA) er en hybrid organisasjon med et tverrfaglig lag bestående av blant annet arkitekter, kunstnere, forskere, filmskapere, advokater og journalister. Deres prosjekter er både vist i noen av de mest anerkjente kunstinstitusjonene, som Veneziabi¬ennalen, Whitney Museum og Lousiana, og lagt frem som bevis i rettssaker i domstolen i Haag. Forensic Architectures banebrytende arbeid med arkitektur og landskap som be¬vismateriale, samt bruk av et mangfold av åpne kilder, representerer et paradigmeskifte i arbeidet med menneskerettigheter. Helt siden grunnleggelsen i 2010 har Forensic Archi¬tecture utviklet og arbeidet med nye metoder for å undersøke og avdekke statlig og insti-tusjonell vold, og fra 2020 har de medvirket til å skape et globalt nettverk av organisasjo¬ner som benytter seg av deres metoder i arbeidet for menneskerettigheter, knyttet sam¬men gjennom paraplyorganisasjonen The Investigative Commons.

Mapping the Genocide in Gaza. Lecture and conversation with Eyal Weizman, Forensic Architecture
As part of the Human International Documentary Film Festival 2025, Eyal Weizman will hold a lecture about Forensic Architecture’s methodological approach to investigating genocide. Forensic Architecture’s meticulous monitoring and exposure of Israel’s systematic destruction of the Gaza Strip and its inhabitants will be the focal point. The lecture will be followed by a conversation including questions and comments from the audience.
This event is planned in close collaboration with Vibeke Harper. The lecture and following conversation is hosted by LO (The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions), Amnesty International Norway, Fagforbundet (Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees), Norsk Folkehjelp (Norwegian People’s Aid), The Fritt Ord Foundation, Human International Documentary Film Festival and Harper Productions.
In October 2024, Forensic Architecture released an 800-page report titled A Cartography of Genocide. The report clearly proves Israel's intention to destroy infrastructure and livelihood for the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip. The report was commissioned by South Africa's legal team, in connection with their case in the International Court of Justice (ICJ), about Israel's genocidal campaign against the Palestinians.
Eyal Weizman will talk about the report and about Forensic Architectures’ methods of investigation.
ABOUT EYAL WEIZMAN
Eyal Weizman, founder and director of Forensic Architecture, has worked in the intersections of art, aesthetics and human rights for decades. In collaboration with FA’s interdisciplinary team, he has developed groundbreaking methods for investigating state and institutional violence and human rights violations. Through the umbrella organization Investigative Commons, they are co-developers of a worldwide network of human rights organizations collaborating on investigations of the involvement and complicity of state and corporate agencies in cases of right-wing violence, racist policing and border regimes, urban warfare, gender-based violence, violations of labor rights, and cyber-surveillance, while supporting demands for reparations for the ongoing crimes of colonialism.
Following the lecture there will be a conversation where members of the audience can comment and ask questions.
