Mao Projects x Circle of Hope - My New Year Companion Cup Registration

My New Year Companion Cup is a two-part Lunar New Year–inspired ceramic workshop that invites participants to reflect on their New Year resolutions through conversation and hands-on making.

Rooted in Lunar New Year traditions, this workshop uses red-toned imagery and symbolism to explore themes of hope, renewal, and looking toward the future. Rather than focusing on productivity or self-improvement, the workshop creates space for reflection, emotional grounding, and shared presence.

Participants will paint and decorate their own ceramic cup, inspired by traditional porcelain motifs, translating personal intentions and reflections into a functional object that can be used in daily life after firing.

This workshop is part of Circle of Hope, an ongoing mental wellbeing series by Mao Projects x Diversecities, hosted by The New Gallery, supported by the Chinatown Activation Grant and the Calgary Foundation.
