With creative and energetic DJ sets characterised by tight technical mixing through a range of genres, Aidan Stoate AKA Counterpress brings a unique vibe to the dancefloor. A native Londoner, living in NZ for 10 years via stints in Asia and North America, his mixes and productions encapsulate a variety of musical influences and styles - from deeper House and Tech grooves, to Techno, Disco, UK Garage and 2-Step - often with recognition for the early pioneers and classic sounds of the scenes to ensure both old school ravers and contemporary electronic music fans can enjoy the journey of each set together. From humble beginnings performing on pirate radio stations and running his own nights 'White Label' and 'Sublo' in London and the South of England, to sets at major venues across the UK, Asia and North America; Counterpress has developed a big reputation with ravers who love his style of uptempo grooves, having dancefloors moving any time of day or night. As co-founder and resident DJ for 'Revival' - an Auckland-based collective pushing the deeper tech and groovy underground house sound, a busy last 12 months have seen Counterpress bring his signature style to some of Auckland’s best venues, both as a resident and guest DJ. Sets at Zenith, Shimmy, Many Shades of House, Burnout, Side Hustle, Dirty Sundays, Double Vision and Perpetual Groovement have firmly established Counterpress as one of the city's hottest selectors.
