We are excited to announce our 2024 community parade, hosted by Black Cherry Puppet Theater and affiliated community artists as part of the annual Sowebo Festival on Sunday, May 26, 2024! We will be making masks and processional objects this year inspired by birds, and other winged friends. We celebrate birds of different feathers who flock together* because their different abilities make the flock stronger. Join us as we craft bird masks, headdresses and wings. All work sessions will take place at Black Cherry Puppet Theater at 1115 Hollins Street in Baltimore, MD! This is a volunteer-led event with crowd-sourced materials, by community for community.
We welcome donations to the builds and to Black Cherry’s fund for renovating the theater’s facade here. Feel free to bring snacks to share at the parade builds!
