On FRIDAY, September 12th, we have a singer-songwriter showcase at B-Side Indie Music Cafe! This is a special one, because it’s all about folk-punk music! Join us for an evening of great, heartbreaking music from some great artists from all over the state. This is a FREE SHOW!
Music starts at 6PM. B-Side will be serving special drinks for the evening. This show is ALL AGES and SOBER.
Let’s meet the artists!
MANNY // folk punk
MANNY is an original emo folk punk songwriter from St. Paul, MN. Her music comes from a place of passion and release from traumatic experiences, with a hope that her audience can feel heard and understood when listening to her music.
DIRTBIKE BOYFRIEND // folk punk
Dirtbike Boyfriend is a folk-punk solo artist from Duluth, Minnesota. Although you might hear a unique cover or two in the style of folk punk, Dirtbike Boyfriend writes upbeat, heartwrenching music with an emo flair. Even so much so, that he’s been compared to Bob Dylan, “but if he was cool.”
BIG BIG BRAIN // folk punk
Equal parts outsider folk and folk punk, Big Big Brain! sounds, you know, big, with a style that ranges from scream-at-the-sky to stare-at-the-wall. As a duo, Lucas Kurmis and Sofie Riley write lyrics that are deeply queer and questioning, never content to let a moment or a feeling pass by without examining it. They may be big big brainiacs, but they lead with their big, dumb hearts.
Project 37 is a non-profit with a mission to provide spaces and opportunities for all ages to enjoy music in safe and sober environments. You can help us continue that goal by coming to shows, following us on social media, or telling people about what we do.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
