Event Update: We have been invited to again gather at LakeStar Farms, at 1847 Dontz Road, a mile from M22 and US-31 in Manistee for a social event for the humans and their goldens prior to the parade lineup scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM. Bring a snack, dessert or dish to pass and let your golden socialize in the expansive grassy area surrounding their gorgeous (unheated) barn from 2 - 4 PM. We may also use the adjacent house for warming our toes and for serving our potluck goodies. This venue is just 4 miles from the parade route! I am so excited to announce that we have once again been asked to be a part of one of Michigan's most treasured events: The Manistee Sleighbell Parade! This is such an awesome event to be a part of! We hope you will join us for this walk back into time.
Step back in time as we take part in one of Michigan's most unique celebrations! Only horse drawn and human powered entries are permitted in this parade and they have invited our club to be a part of it! Imagine a 30 foot Christmas tree being pulled down River Street by a team of draft horses, followed by a beautiful display of luminaries, caroling, and the lighting of the tree! You will not want to miss this special event!
We must line up at 4:30 PM at the corner of River Street and Division Street. We are typically near the front of the parade, in front of dozens of other groups, including marching bands (which sometimes bother dogs).
Throw on a wool coat or similar, add a scarf, and hey you kind of look Victorian, which is what the organizers ask of us. If you have costume garb of the period, wear it!! This is going to be an amazing event with thousands of spectators. What a wonderful opportunity we have as Golden owners to be a part of this holiday celebration!!!
