On Thursday, November 14th, join us for a presentation on two of Florida's most important wetland environments, the mangroves and the salt marshes that cover the coast of our state. Carolyn Kovacs, the Florida Sea Grant Agent with UF/IFAS Extension Volusia and Flagler Counties, will discuss the importance of these delicate environments, and the complex ecology surrounding them.
As a Sea Grant Agent, Carolyn she provides community education programs and environmental literacy materials focused on healthy oceans and coasts. Carolyn holds a Master of Science in Marine Sciences from Savannah State University in Georgia and previously taught marine science courses for university study abroad programs in Panama and throughout the world on a sailboat. She now enjoys developing educational curricula and teaching coastal ecology and conservation to youth and adults in our area through programs such as the Florida Master Naturalist Program and 4-H. In her free time, Carolyn enjoys longboard surfing and exploring Florida’s waterways via stand up paddleboard.
