Love anime? Obsessed with manga? In this beginner-friendly night workshop, comic artist Jared Day shows you how to create an original manga character from scratch. We’ll cover expressive anime eyes, chibi vs. full-proportions, hair & costumes, dynamic action poses, and finishing touches like inking, screentone effects, highlights, and speed lines.
You’ll leave with a polished character sheet (name, power, expression row, full-body pose) and the confidence to keep drawing your own stories.
What you’ll do
- Warm-ups for faces, hair, hands, and action poses
- Choose a style: shōnen, shōjo, slice-of-life, fantasy, mecha, or chibi
- Design your character’s silhouette, outfit, and signature power/prop
- Ink + add tone/effects; optional color pops with markers or pencils
- Sign and take home your finished character sheet

- 💸 Late policy: $15 late fee if you arrive more than 30 minutes after start time.
- 🚪 No entry after 45 minutes (it disrupts the flow and you’ll miss too much).
