Join MANDEM for this special big screen preview of Last Summer in Oxford, the Williams brothers’ first attempt at a no-budget feature film. Both UWE film graduates, Timon and Elias Williams are young, up-and-coming filmmakers of colour and the founders of mandemhood.com. Between them, they’ve had significant short film success including an RTS Award, a Random Acts commission and a BBC New Creatives film. Their graduate film, Samurai Blood, was screened at Encounters Film Festival and selected for the 2019 British Urban Film Festival.Their coming-of-age debut feature explores the lives of young people that are native to the city of Oxford, removing the veneer of Oxford’s prestige to reveal a diverse world of young misfits. Three friends struggle to embrace the looming demands of adulthood. Desperate to end summer with a bang before going their separate ways, Toby, Dan and Amir go to great lengths to break into a local music festival.
Followed by a Q&A with directors Timon and Elias Williams hosted by Adam Murray. You will be able to ask questions via text in venue.
