Join us for a captivating Mandarin Corner event tracing the violin's remarkable journey in China. Discover how this European instrument arrived in the late Ming-early Qing period and evolved into a vibrant voice in modern Chinese music.
The evening will feature an insightful talk with a live performance, showcasing distinctive styles of Chinese violin music in the 20th century.
Featured Speaker & Performer: Dr Ziluo Huang
Dr Ziluo Huang is a Chinese violinist and researcher. Awarded First Prize at the UK International Music Competition (2023), she has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the UK. She also regularly delivers public talks and presents papers at international conferences.
Ziluo holds a PhD in Musicology from the University of Manchester. She earned her Master of Music in Performance with distinction from the Royal College of Music and completed her Bachelor of Music on scholarship at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
