PREREQUISITE FOR THIS URBAN RETREAT: DEEPER LAMRIM COURSE (Completed or in Process of Completing)IN PERSON or ONLINE
Explanation and Practice of the Mandala Offering
In Person or Online
Prerequisite: Have completed the Deeper Lamrim Course (or are in the process of completing it)
If you have already begun practicing the Ngondros, it is even preferable (or if you plan to study them soon).
In order to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings, one must complete the two collections: merit and sublime wisdom. Meditation is the main factor completing the accumulation of sublime wisdom. To complete the accumulation of merit, other kinds of actions are necessary. Among these, the mandala offering is one of the most beneficial. It is easy to do and has immense benefits.
Tenzin Gawa (Jason) will lead this workshop.
During this workshop, we will learn how to make the mandala offering and practice it together. For the workshop, you should plan to bring these four items:
The mandala offering kit (see the event image; if you don't already have one, we have some for sale at the Center)
Your Ngondro practice text (https://www.buddhistmeditationtoronto.org/product-page/practice-in-four-daily-sessions-of-the-preparatory-practices)
A clean, inspiring cloth measuring approximately 1 meter by 1 meter
Materials for practicing the mandala offering. This could be grains of rice or barley (uncooked!), for example (approximately 1 kg)
Many of the topics mentioned during this workshop are taken from the Ngondro book of explanations: https://www.buddhistmeditationtoronto.org/product-page/the-preparatory-stages-of-the-vajrayana
