This Mandala Mirror Painting Workshop is a unique and enriching experience that combines the art of creating mandalas with the reflective practice of painting. A mandala, which means "circle" in Sanskrit, is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism representing the universe. Its intricate patterns and symmetrical designs are not only visually captivating but also serve as tools for meditation and mindfulness.
Participants in the workshop will engage in the meditative practice of creating their own mandala designs on mirrors, fostering a sense of inner peace and focus. This communal activity encourages sharing and collaboration, allowing individuals to connect with others in a meaningful way. As they paint, participants can reflect on their inner selves, share their creative expressions, and build a supportive community.
This workshop is an opportunity to explore the therapeutic benefits of art, enhance personal well-being, and celebrate the beauty of shared creativity.
Natalia Blaylock is our amazing local artist; she will be guiding us through this very detailed oriented work of art in 2 days:
Day 1: you will learn how to measure and draw the initial lines to create a "blueprint", choose your color scheme and plan out your design. After painting the wood base with your chosen base color, you will then pencil the lines that will divide your design in perfectly even parts. Natalia will then give suggestions and teach options of different dotting techniques, for you to begin your creation.
Day 2: You will now let your creative mind take over and mindfully and meditatively, dot by dot, add your chosen colors and dot sizes, following an even circular pattern until you fill in all the spaces of the base. Finally, you will glue the actual mirror at the center of the base. Natalia will go over sealing and hanging options to complete your project.
Please bring snacks and beverages to share. We have a cold water dispenser and a tea station with a variety of tea options.
This is an intimate workshop with ONLY 8 PARTICIPANTS and sure to fill up fast, so don't wait to sign up!
