Donations appreciated. We operate as a free, donation-based outdoor museum. Suggested donations are $5 for adults and $3 for students, but any amount is appreciated. Donations can be made on site.
What to Expect:
When you arrive, you will pull into our parking lot from 14th St E. Our main entrance is on 14th Street East. Just look for “Old Cabbage Head”, our 1913 Baldwin Locomotive, welcoming visitors to the museum from SR 64.
Your tour will begin at the Wiggins Store (brick building). As you tour the site, please do not tamper with our collections (such as touching, moving, or climbing historical structures and artifacts).
Please be aware of the weather and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Air conditioning will not be available in most areas. We have benches for you to rest. Restrooms are located near the back of the 1887 Church and inside the Wiggin General Store.
Accessibility:
Most of the amenities and points of interest at Manatee Village Historical Park are ground level, or feature ramps or a wheel chair lift. Due to the historic nature of our buildings, not all are ADA compliant.
About:
Manatee Village Historical Park opened on July 6, 1976, to preserve and share the heritage of Manatee County's founding period (1840-1918). We do this through museum exhibits and a collection of historical and replica buildings set on nearly four acres under the shade of hundred-year-old oak trees.
With 15 points of interest, we have something for everyone. Guests can enjoy viewing permanent and temporary exhibits in the Wiggins General Store, a stroll through Manatee County's oldest organized cemetery, or seeing what life was like on the Florida Frontier in our Stephens Settler's House. We offer a playground for children, and ample picnic tables for relaxing under Spanish moss laden oaks.
