Jake Strohmeyer’s talk will focus on the challenges facing wildland fire managers today using the historic Central Idaho fire season of 2024 as the backdrop. He will provide an inside look at the considerations involved in making fire management decisions and some of the hard realities that fire managers face. Strohmeyer will also discuss how the fire environment has changed over time, and how the Forest Service is working to adapt its policies and management actions to address those changes.
