About this Event

Course Overview

Managing volunteers is very different from managing staff. This course will give you ideas on keeping your volunteer team engaged, motivated and up-to-date, as well as how to manage different personalities.

Suitable For:

  • Front of House other staff directly managing volunteers
  • Those new to Volunteer Management or those looking to refresh their skills in this area

  • Developing new policies and procedures within legal frameworks
  • Ongoing support and guidance for your volunteers
  • How to have those difficult conversations and manage exit strategies

Trainer

Sandra Lynes Timbrell has worked in the cultural sector for 20 years. She is Director of Visitor Engagement at St Paul's Cathedral where she leads the commercial, visitor experience, and marketing teams. In her previous role she was Director of Visitor Experience at Shakespeare's Globe, with responsibility for creating a new visitor focused department from several diverse teams including around 600 volunteers. Sandra has also held senior roles at Museum of London and English Heritage.

This is a hybrid course. The trainer will be attending in-person at Rose Street. There are a number of tickets available to attend in-person and a number of live online places available for those who can't attend in-person.

Refunds and Cancellations

You can cancel up until 10 working days prior to the course, and receive a full refund (not including Eventbrite Fee's, which are non-refundable). Any cancellations after this will not be refunded, but tickets can be transferred to a future course up to one year later. For full terms, please see the section below.

Accessibility Information

  • Attendees who require a Carer or Personal Assistant to accompany them on the course can book a free Carer ticket by emailing [email protected].
  • Ramp access at ground floor level (there is otherwise one step into the building).
  • Reception and conference rooms are located on the first floor of the building. This can be accessed by the lift or via 25 stairs. Accessible toilets are available on the first and second floors.
  • Assistance Dogs welcome throughout the building and to all events - the nearest park is Jubilee Gardens (by Embankment tube station - a 7 minute walk).
  • Hearing loop systems are available in the meeting and conference rooms.
  • Regular breaks will be scheduled throughout the day.
  • If you are attending online, closed captions will be enabled on screen.
