The course which runs over two mornings, will explore how we might deal with stress and anxiety while living with MS.
About this Event

In partnership with and support from our newly rebuilt Stirling and Clackmannanshire MS Society Scotland group, we are delighted to be delivering our Managing Stress and Anxiety course in Stirling.

The course will take place over two sessions on Thursday, 28 November and Thursday, 5 December from 10am until 12pm. To get the most from this course, we encourage you to attend both sessions.

This course will allow you to engage with other people affected by MS, and together we will explore how we might deal with stress and anxiety while living with MS. We will look at the differences between stress and anxiety, learn how to recognise them and develop tools for managing them.

It is an interactive course, designed to complement the discussions you have while participating. There will be a handbook to accompany the course.

Over each of the weeks the course will look at the following themes:

• Stress and anxiety and how it affects us

• Stress, anxiety, and MS - understanding how stress and anxiety affect my MS and how my MS affects stress and anxiety

• Getting to know my stress and anxiety. What triggers it, how it shows up, and how it makes me feel?

• Working with stress and anxiety - building a tool kit to help me manage my stress and anxiety

The course will be hosted by our Community Development Officers, Tracey and Carla.

We expect this to be a popular course and we have very limited capacity because we want to keep the numbers to a size that will facilitate maximum benefit to the participants. Please, therefore, only book if you are confident that you can attend, and if you discover later that you are unable to attend please cancel your place straightaway to give someone else an opportunity to attend.

Please note:

• The sessions are not tailored to any specific needs

• The sessions are designed for guidance, motivation, and educational purposes only

• No information should be taken as medical or professional health advice

• Each person taking part in the sessions should assess the activity and determine if it is appropriate for them

What should I do if I can no longer attend?

If you find that you are unable to take part please get in touch at [email protected] so we can offer up your place to someone else.

Refreshments

Some light refreshments as well as tea, coffee and water will be provided on the day. We ask that you please advise us of any special dietary requirements or food allergies at the time of booking your place.

Venue details

The venue is on the ground floor and there are no steps into the main reception area. The doors are manually operated but we will be there on the day to welcome you in and assist with doors. There is one accessible toilet and also ladies and gents facilities which are also on the same floor.

There are three accessible parking spaces, with other spaces on the same level as the building.

Due to the building being used by others, we unfortunately cannot guarantee all accessible spaces or those spaces directly at the entrance will be available on the day. Please do get in touch if you require more information.

Covid symptoms/feeling unwell on the day

Many of us attending these sessions have weakened or compromised immune systems, so we respectively ask if you aren’t feeling well, or have a temperature on the day, to stay at home and let us know you can’t attend.
