About this Event

A host of practical strategies for managing behaviour, developing self-regulation and handling workload.

This event will offer a range of strategies for better managing behaviour, based on Sue’s work around positive approaches to handling behaviour. It will be a practical, realistic, interactive and inspiring day of training, designed to share ideas that can be used immediately in the classroom.

In the first session, Sue will explore how you can take a proactive approach to managing behaviour, examining how to develop effective verbal and non-verbal communication. She will look at the role of motivation, relationships, rewards and consequences in creating a climate for better behaviour, as well as sharing key strategies for supporting learners with additional needs.

In the second session, Sue will look in detail at the development of self-regulation, sharing ways in which teachers can help their learners develop this skill.

In the third session, she will look at workload, exploring effective ways to manage time, prioritise different demands and handle stress.

This event is aimed at teachers working in all phases of education and Sue will give examples of how the strategies work for all age groups. You will leave feeling more confident in handling behaviour and supporting your learners to improve their behaviour skills. You will also feel better placed to handle the pressures caused by difficult behaviour and teacher workload.

The event is open to all colleagues but is particularly suitable for current ECTs and those who will be ECTs in September, starting their first year of induction.

We have limited free places for Lead Induction Tutors who accompany their ECT(s). Once the booking has been made for your ECT(s) please email us ([email protected]) for further details.

Here is what some participants from the course in 2023 said:

Absolutely fantastic, one of the best sessions I have ever been to on teaching. Hugely practical and really engaging.

Sue is a great speaker and I learnt so much! I have learnt more in this session than during my PGCE. Really great.

Some excellent practical takeaways and frameworks for thinking about how to approach various issues.

Genuinely an incredibly useful CPD session; comfortably the best I have attended.
