Part documentary and part cinematic art, this film follows a city in the 1920s Soviet Union throughout the day, from morning to night. Directed by Dziga Vertov, with a variety of complex and innovative camera shots, the film depicts scenes of ordinary daily life in Russia. Cinema @ Harkat For a cinema city, it’s sad that the space made for a certain kind of cinema is only sporadic. For people engaged with meditations on cinema as a life choice, it doesn’t feel right that we go back to the source only every now and then. We propose to run Harkat like an arthouse cinema. To create a consistent space for a community to gather. We’ve been doing this for years, but now you will see long runs of your favourite films, with talks, masterclasses, film-themed cocktails, and love notes. We’re going to dive into a cinematic whirlpool at Harkat.
