George Mann (US) is a songwriter's singer who would just as soon share stories and songs from the long history of folk music as sing his own songs!
He has produced albums featuring such folk music legends as Utah Phillips, Pete Seeger and Tom Paxton, and produced national tours of the US and Australia in honour of The Almanac Singers (2013) and Joe Hill (2015).
George released his CD “This Chain” in October 2023, and in September 2024 he released a CD of Si Kahn’s songs, “Labor Day,” to honour Si on his 80th birthday. He is producing a new album with Mick Coates for September 2025 release, "Ghosts of the Old West," and will be featuring songs from this album on his 2025 Australian tour, running through late November.
SUPPORTED BY The Romeos
Both Helen and Tony have a strong passion and affinity for Australian bush songs, music, dance and poetry and performing as a duo gives them the opportunity to present some of the favourite material they have gathered. Starting off in the BMC Concert Party, they both made the progression into working bush bands and eventually wound up together in the re-vamped Southern Cross Bush Band in 1982.
Over the years they have contributed their talents to many of Sydney's bush bands, ensembles, dance groups, have organised regular poetry sessions and are well known for their percussion workshops. As well as developing poetry into songs, their current energies are mostly directed towards the Saplings initiative with the Bush Music Club giving young musicians exposure to the rich resource of collected Australian tunes and songs.
SUPPORTED by Colleen & Chris
Colleen and Chris are regulars at our Thirroul Sessions held every 3rd Wednesday of the month at this venue (Heritage Hall 7pm). They are locals from Kiama Downs and always get the loudest applause when they finish their set, Chris is a brilliant guitarist and Colleen sings like a nightingale, as well as slipping in a few Flute riffs to enhance the performance.
They often do songs that are buried deep in everyone's psyche so a Colleen and Chris performance will leave you with a deep sense of serenity.
