Over the last few years Foundry Wood has been undertaking a survey of its nocturnal mammals, with the help of Warwickshire Mammal Group, to discover what mammal species are present in the wood. Using a camera trap the group have captured images of many of the wood’s larger inhabitants such as foxes, badgers and rabbits. We like to know more about the smaller animals who use the wood at night time and will be undertaking some live trapping in the hopes of finding voles, mice or shrews.
Volunteers from Warwickshire Mammal Group will be leaving the traps overnight on the Friday evening. Visitors to Foundry Wood in the morning will be able to see what has been caught when the traps are opened at 8am. The animals will then be released back to a safe location in the wood.
The opening of the traps will take place at 8am on Saturday 6th September. End time around 9/9:15 am depending on discussion and questions.
All are welcome – please be aware this is often a popular and busy event.
