Understanding the transition from dancing On 1 to On 2
Intermediate Salsa experience required
✨ Interested in taking your Salsa to the next level? This class is for dancers who already know the basics and want to explore Salsa On2 — including how it differs from the more common Salsa On1, and why timing and musicality are key.
What You’ll Learn:
Understanding On1 vs. On2:
How the steps align differently with the music
How rhythm, timing, and accents differ
How partner connection changes between styles
Basic Salsa On2 step pattern
Essential turns: right turn, broken left, hook
Partner work: proper body & hand positioning
Intermediate turn combinations
Giving & receiving “preps”
Salsa music theory & instrumentation: how to hear clave, tumbao, congas, and more 🎶
Why This Class is Different:
St. Louis is predominantly a Salsa On1 city, but Salsa On2 has grown in popularity from the East Coast and globally. You’ll learn not just the steps, but the reasoning behind them, so you can confidently add On2 to your dance repertoire.
✅ By the end of the session, you’ll understand both On1 and On2 timing, how to apply On2 steps, and be prepared for Intermediate 1 Salsa On2.

🔥 Mambo Mondays: Salsa Musicality & Body Movement 8pm - 9pm At ADR Location
Take your Salsa beyond the basics!
✨ This class is designed for dancers who already know the basics of Salsa and want to add style, rhythm, and expression to their dancing. Instead of just “doing the steps,” you’ll learn how to feel the music, move with your body, and connect with rhythm on a deeper level.
You’ll Learn:
Body isolations (hips, shoulders, torso, arms) for smoother movement
Shines & solo footwork to develop rhythm and personal style
How to interpret Salsa music beyond the counts — feeling the accents, breaks, and phrasing
Styling techniques to add flavor and personality
Partner transitions that flow naturally with the rhythm
Understanding and dancing to clave, congas, bongos, and tumbao 🎶
💃 This class is about more than steps — it’s about musicality, flow, and self-expression. Perfect for dancers who have the basics down and are ready to level up.
