Join us to learn the Mama Stew routine with Bic and Simone from The Lindy Club! The workshop starts at 2pm and finishes at 4pm.The Mama Stew routine is a solo choreography that was commonly practiced by Whitey's Lindy Hoppers and served as a warm-up before they moved on to more challenging routines.
The name Mama Stew comes from Louise "Mama Lou" Parks was a dancer who played a crucial role in keeping Lindy Hop alive after the Savoy Ballroom closed in 1958. She began her career at the Savoy working in the coatroom and quickly became a prominent dancer at the venue. Over time, she established her professional dance company, which from 1961 to 1990 preserved the legacy of vernacular jazz dances such as the Lindy Hop.
