The popular Malvern Cycle Sport off-road race series returns for 2024, with events scheduled so far for May, June, July and September.
Entries are now open for round 1 on 22nd May:
https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/300957/Malvern-Cycle-Sport-Go-Ride-Race-May
Any bike suitable for off-road riding is allowed in the races (apart from e-bikes), including MTB, gravel and cx bikes.
Each night will consist of the following events:
- 5.30-6pm: 4-7yr old ride (race skill and fun ride - no chip timing) - max. 15 entrants
- 6.15-6.45pm: 8-13yr old race (three sub-categories within the race - 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13 years) - max. 40 entrants
- 7-8pm: 14yrs+ race (including seniors) - max. 40 entrants
The 8-13yr and 14yrs+ races will both be chip timed, with results available after the race. Numbers in each event will be capped, with entries accepted on a first come first served basis.
There will be no entries on the day for the 4-7 ride, and only available for the 8-13 race and 14+ race if there are spaces left (please check with us in advance!)
These sessions are not part of the MCS junior coaching programme, and parents or guardians are responsible for children in their care at all times - a parent or guardian should remain present at the farm throughout the session.
Please note that these races are being held on private land, and there is no access at any other time than the race events.
While a race licence is not required for these events, MCS does strongly recommend having personal accident cover for any riding and racing activities. Individual personal liability insurance for racing activities comes with BC gold race and silver race membership (lower levels of membership provide riding but not racing cover). Other personal liability insurance options are available with different providers.
We will need a few volunteers on each of the nights to help make sure everything runs smoothly - including help with marshalling on the course, sign on and car parking. Please look out for a separate post about volunteering, or if you know you will be able to help out at one or more of the events, please send Jessica Rhodes-Jones a message on Facebook, or email [email protected]
Any questions, please direct message Jessica Rhodes-Jones on Facebook or email ([email protected]), or email MCS Chair Mike Tibbits ([email protected])
