May 19, 2025 marks the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Omowale/El Hajj Malik Al Shabazz/Malcolm X! The United Afrikan Movement and Black Lives Matter-Gary & Unity of Purpose present our January lecture/program at the Gary, Indiana Public Library & Culture Center at 220 W. 5th Ave. Our guest lecturer/presenter is Peace Advocate and Artist Toni Washington Simpson. We are having a "Meeting with the Grassroots" about Peace. Recreating the Bandung Conference from 1955 which Malcolm addressed during the "Message To The Grassroots" speech delivered on November 10, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan. Interactive participation is encouraged during this important gathering as we pay tribute to our 'Shining Black Prince,' during this centennial recognition of his birth. Light refreshsments and cultural expressions will be included in the program.
