Malavanych Live! Traditional Batlejka in Boston

Malavanych, the stage persona of Alexander Zhdanovich, an icon for generations of Belarusians, is coming back to Boston! As the former host of the beloved children’s program Kalykhanka, his performances bring a unique blend of nostalgia, warmth, and masterful storytelling that resonates with both children and adults.

During the event, Malavanych will present the magical Batlejka and a shadow theater performance as well as lead games for children and adults. Batlejka (or Batleyka) is a centuries-old Belarusian folk tradition. It is a chamber-style puppet theater performed inside a special wooden box.
