Mala is from the Sanskrit word meaning garland. A mala consists of 108 beads, focus beads, and guru beads. Traditionally, the mala is used as meditation aid to count mantras and honor the teacher. Today, mala are often used to recite intentions or affirmations.
Stone beads are often added to increase the beauty and spirituality of the mala. The mala can be worn around the neck or on either wrist

During a Mala workshop, participants will learn about the history & significance of malas, take time to set our personal intentions & prayers, and then create our own 108 bead mala necklace stones and beads. As we infuse our individual energy into each bead and knot, the act of hand knotting
a mala becomes a meditation in itself.
Whether you are interested in learning about malas, seeking more mindfulness in your life, craving connection to a community, or just looking to create a meaningful piece of jewelry, we keep the energy light and the learning simple so that everyone feels welcome.
You will leave this special and unique experience with a personally charged, tangible prayer to carry with you, reminding you of your deepest intentions and prayers. A handmade mala necklace makes a unique gift for someone special, too.
Karie, owner of MonkeyBee Reiki, is a Reiki Master Teacher, with specialized training in the mantra of the Medicine Buddha. These skills combine in deep healing sessions. Take home this energy with a reiki-infused mala.
Available as traditional necklaces or bracelets, mala have been used for centuries to enhance spiritual practices.
