About this Event
Welding uses electricity, heat, time, and skill to join two pieces of metal together – in just one afternoon, you will learn the basics of all these things while you design and weld some yard art. We will have a variety of scrap metal available to use -- come with some ideas and we'll help you do the rest!
Beginners are welcome – this class is open to women and gender expansive folks* age 18+.

- The majority of our studio is not climate controlled.
- Students will be exposed to a frequently dusty space with loud machinery.
- Parts of this workshop may be held in a computer lab, which is only accessible by one flight of stairs.

SkillSet is an outreach program of UNC Asheville’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Studio that provides access to life-changing skills through maker-based education. We teach everything from making custom electric guitars to robotics and furniture, and all the tools, technical skills, and resilience that goes into making these objects.
SkillSet offers after-school workshops, summer camps, classes for adult learners, and community outreach programming.
