SYNOPSIS:

Hong Kong’s box office and cultural sensation of the year arrives in a more fleshed-out version. A Taoist priest (comedy legend Michael Hui) is forced to work with a jobless wedding planner (the iconic Dayo Wong, A GUILTY CONSCIENCE) whose new methods clash with traditional styles at a famous funeral home. Hosted by leading actress Michelle Wai (THE SORCERER AND THE WHITE SNAKE).

Anselm Chan, Director

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Anselm Chan Mou Yin is a renowned screenwriter within the Hong Kong film and television industry, an up-and-coming director, and a member of the Hong Kong Screenwriters’ Guild. Debut film is Ready O/R Knot (2021) and the second is the sequel Ready O/R Rot (2023). The Last Dance is his third film.

Michelle Wai, Actress

Hong Kong actress Michelle Wai made her film acting debut in 2008 with HAPPILY EVER AFTER. Since then, she has acted in nearly 50 films and TV series. In 2017, her outstanding performance in THE SLEEP CURSE earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards. In 2018, she won the Most Promising Actor of the Year in Chinese Cinema at the 23rd Huading Awards as well as a nomination for the Best Film Character award from the Hong Kong Screenwriters’ Guild for her performance in LION ROCK.

In 2021 and 2023, Michelle starred in director Anselm Chan Mou-yin’s urban romantic comedy “READY O/R KNOT” series, successfully portraying dilemmas that modern Hong Kong women face in marriage and familial relationships. “READY O/R ROT”, the second installment, earned Michelle a nomination for the Best Film Character award from the Hong Kong Screenwriters’ Guild and a nomination for Best Actress at the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards.

In her latest film THE LAST DANCE, Michelle co-starred with legendary actors Michael Hui and Dayo Wong for the first time. Her delicate and nuanced performance earned her widespread praise as well as Best Actress accolades from the 43nd Hong Kong Film Awards, the 61st Asia Pacific Film Festival, the 39th Huading Awards, the 16th Macau International Movie Festival, the 19th Chicago Asian Pop-Up Cinema film festival, etc, total a seven-time award-winning from different film awards.
