About this Event

The Shakeout Run

Join us for a 2-3 mile shake out run along the final miles of the marathon course, hosted by lululemon Global Run Ambassador & Making Strides co-host, Stef Flippin.

Following the run, head up to the 50th floor of the iconic Prudential Building, to get a different View of Boston. Enjoy breakfast and a live recording of Making Strides Podcast with hosts, Stef Flippin and Carolyn Su, and special guests, Kayla Jeter and Charlie Dark.

About the Making Strides Podcast Hosts: Both Stefanie and Carolyn are women who stumbled into the sport of running in their 20s, and both women have since established themselves as forces of change within the community.

Stef is a professional trail and ultrarunner, coach, and writer based out of Colorado, where she also runs her private practice as a foot & ankle surgeon. Carolyn is a writer and marathoner based out of Boston, and she is most known for her advocacy work through the Instagram platform, @DiverseWeRun.

‘Making Strides’ is a space to share their experiences as BIPOC, female runners, as well as a space to discuss the nuances that come with their perspectives: safety, sponsorships and contract negotiations, mental health, current events in the running world and beyond, etc.

About special guest, Kayla Jeter: Kayla is a Chicago-based lululemon ambassador, mental health advocate, certified functional strength and wellness coach, and as of a few weeks ago — ultramarathoner. In 2017 Kayla started exploring running as a lifestyle, and not just a form of sports punishment birthing her 100MilesofSummer challenge. Over the last six years, Kayla has fully stepped into being a “runner” running her first half marathon in 2020 and has participated in some of the most iconic road running ultra-relay's as a member of lululemon's Hood to Coast team (twice) and one of six women team to complete the 340-mile run from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, The Speed Project. In crossing the FURTHER finish line, running 234.32 miles — her furthest distance yet, Kayla is fueled to continue diversifying the sport and creating safe, inclusive spaces for all runners

About special guest, Charlie Dark: After years of running with a small group of DJs in the middle of the night, Charlie started Run Dem Crew in 2007 as a running club for “people who don’t consider themselves runners.” Grown from a casual run around the neighbourhood to one of the most influential run crews in the world, the Run Dem now has more than 500 members. A former DJ, poet, writer, spoken-word artist and father, Charlie takes to the streets of London in off-hours to look for his meditative flow.

Venue Location: The event will be hosted at View Boston, located in the Prudential Builiding at 800 Boylston St. Check in for the run will be located on the mall level and breakfast and live podcast will be take place on the 50th floor.
