Making Changes to Everyday Activities to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint!

Thinking about carbon is no longer a luxury, it is something we may all be forced to do, earlier than we think.
SME’s will be shown how to start their journey to reducing energy use. You will be shown a simplistic guide to Net Zero which can be followed up with detailed support from the university. Attendees will be able to tap into the university's expertise in sustainability. We will discuss why carbon matters and the differences between Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero. By the end SME's will be able to think about carbon intensity, the challenges of calculating it and be able to identifying savings.

- Karl S WIlliams - Director for the Centre of Waste Management:
- Andrew Gullick - Centre Manager and Senior Auditor: Andrew has significant experience in the low carbon sector as a consultant to businesses and as part of multi-disciplinary building design teams. Andrew’s experience includes building physics and thermal modelling, building simulation and Part L compliance checks. Andrew delivers detailed energy, carbon and resource efficiency audits to SMEs across Lancashire.
- Adam Holden - Research and Engagement Co-ordinator: Adam is an experienced business advisor with an extensive network across businesses and private and public sector business support services across Lancashire.
- Emmanuel Anike - Research Fellow: Emmanuels background is civil and structural engineering and carbon.

This event will be held during our Research and Knowledge Exchange Showcase 2025 which is taking place on the 7th and 8th of May.
The Research and Knowledge Exchange Showcase aims to empower our community with knowledge and skills that can shape the future, attendees will have the opportunity to attend workshops and training sessions, learn about innovation and growth, discover our state-of-the-art facilities and more!
The Showcase is open to everyone. Some sessions are for our staff and students, as well as external organisations and stakeholders.
