Claudia Squio is a Brazilian fiber artist living in Michigan and focusing on the art of Cartonnage: a French traditional art of making boxes covered with fabric or paper that is being revived around the world. Claudia teaches and designs fabric boxes and cases, including fabric preparation, painting, and sewing, often combining techniques. She is the author of "Cartonnage Basics & Beyond - The complete guide to make fabric boxes".
Claudia will be teaching the Making a Cartonnage Fabric Box class at KBAC this summer, which is a decorative 7 ½” x 3 5/8” 2 ½” box with a metal clasp and hinges, and storage tray – FUNctional art!
Perfect for beginners and experienced crafters alike, we will start with a DIY kit and create a box that can be personalized to your liking. Get ready to add a touch of elegance to any room or make heartfelt, handmade gifts that will last a long time!
Students must provide their own fabric: 2 coordinating quilt fabrics (1 fat quarter each.) All other materials will be provided.
