November has been a pivotal month for the Scarborough Makers & Micro-Manufacturers Feasibility Study. We have engaged with dozens of businesses, explored local supply chain connections, and hosted our first Makers & Creatives Meet-Up at Grind & Tonic. The honesty, ambition, and collaboration from attendees have set a strong foundation for the project's future. Several key insights have emerged this month:
🔹 Makers and micro-manufacturers seek visibility, community, and the right infrastructure.
🔹 There is a genuine desire for a dedicated cluster—a space to create, scale, innovate, and access new markets.
🔹 Stakeholder engagement is robust, with ongoing conversations among local, regional, and national entities. As we move into December, the pace is quickening. Next on the agenda:
🎄 **Explore Indie Christmas Evening – December 10th** This relaxed meet-and-greet aims to bring together creatives, makers, and small manufacturers. Enjoy mulled wine, mince pies, and open discussions about the future of the sector.
Additionally, we will continue with:
- 1:1 sessions with local makers
- Meetings with the North Yorkshire Combined Authority and industry partners
- In-depth analysis of skills, workspace needs, and growth barriers I
If you are a maker, a creative, or a small manufacturer, we want to hear your story. Your experiences will directly influence the recommendations we submit early next year.
