About this Event
Here at Bold Fork Books, we’ve always said pickles could change the world: In Our Fermented Lives, award-winning food historian and fermentation expert Julia Skinner proves it.
Our Fermented Lives explores the origins of a wide range of fermented foods around the world with a focus on the many intersections with human history, from the evolution of the microbiome to food preservation techniques. It looks at how the process of fermentation was a building block of community in many different cultures, allowing societies to take root and grow. Plus it's full of mind-blowing recipes that we’ve never seen before from Hippocras, an infused wine, to Sowens, a Scottish sour oat porridge.
Come join Julia as we talk about all things fermentation and then dig right in with a vinegar making class! There will be a wide assortment of beautiful ingredients to choose from supplied by our bffs at Each Peach Market including fresh herbs, edible flowers, and hot peppers. Each attendee will go home with two different vinegars that they made themselves to enjoy.
