About this Event
Make Your Own Victorian Valentine Puzzle Purse
Come join us on Friday, January 31st from 10am - 12pm at the Susanna Dickinson Museum on 411 E 5th Street, Austin for our FREE Final Fridays workshop!
This month the O. Henry Culture & Arts Education Coordinator, Beth CreMeens, will be leading a workshop on Victorian Valentine Puzzle Purses. Folded paper puzzles have been around for hundreds of years, and the first example of a Valentine's puzzle purse dates back to the 1700s. They usually took the form of handwritten notes or poems that exchanged romantic messages through intricate folds and meaningful symbols of flowers, birds, vines, and hearts.
Come make a Valentine puzzle purse for your special someone or good friend with the Brush Museums staff!
Parking information: There is limited street parking, but many parking garages are located near the museum. The nearest paid parking garage is at the Austin Convention Center Parking Garage located at 601 E 5th Street. The MetroRail also stops directly alongside Brush Square Park, adjacent to the museum.
