Expand on your sewing skills in the intermediate sewing workshop with Breege Smyth, focusing on creating unique draught excluders with your old clothing and materials. This practical and eco-friendly draught excluder workshop will have you leaving with a brand new accessory for your home and some new found skills to repurpose other materials you may have around your home. Let’s sew to a sustainable future. We will have a selection of wools available for decorating the paint fabric. The stuffing is made from old jumpers, fleeces, socks, T-shirts, etc that are cut into strips and packed into the excluder.
If you have old items of clothing that you would like to use then please take them along. Each excluder will need roughly the equivalent of three jumpers. Do not worry if you do not have anything suitable for the stuffing, there will be plenty here to use.
Please take along your sewing machine. This workshop is suitable for beginners.
Please note that this workshop requires you to bring your own sewing machine. There are a limited number of sewing machines available to borrow at The Rockfield Centre on a first-come basis. Please email [email protected] for more information.
