About this Event

Make Your Own - Rocket Stove

Join us at The Foundry for a hands-on workshop where you'll build your own metal rocket stove—perfect for camping, backyard cooking, or emergency preparedness. This functional project is a great way to gain confidence with fabrication tools and techniques, while creating something useful and durable.

In this workshop, you’ll:

  • Learn to make straight and miter cuts using a chop saw
  • Use the floor bender to shape and form a custom handle
  • Prepare metal surfaces using an angle grinder for clean, strong welds
  • Practice tack welding and full welds using MIG welding techniques
  • Assemble and finish your very own compact rocket stove to take home

This class is perfect for beginners who want to explore the world of metalworking or for experienced makers looking to sharpen their skills on a practical project. Walk away with foundational knowledge of cutting, bending, grinding, and welding—as well as a rugged, handmade stove ready to fuel your next outdoor adventure.

Rocket Stove Use Disclaimer:The rocket stove built in this workshop is intended for outdoor use only. Do not use indoors, in enclosed spaces, or near flammable materials. When in use, the stove should be placed on a fire-safe, non-combustible surface and kept at least 10 feet away from buildings, trees, or other structures. Always operate in a well-ventilated area and monitor the stove at all times during use.

By participating in this workshop, you acknowledge that you are responsible for the safe use and handling of the stove after the class. The Foundry is not liable for any injury, damage, or loss resulting from the use of the stove. Use at your own risk.
