Join artist Susanna Gaunt for a special one-day workshop that kicks off our new Sustainability Series! This hands-on session shares the practical knowledge Susanna gathered through her Minnesota State Arts Board Creative Individuals Grant — and offers an affordable opportunity to learn handmade papermaking from an experienced artist.Making paper at home is an easy and creative way to reuse paper products you already have, from recycled paper to egg cartons to brown paper. In this class, you’ll learn the full process: making and coloring pulp, forming sheets, and pressing and drying your handmade paper. You’ll also explore natural dyes and embedded materials (like seeds!) for your own eco-friendly designs.
You’ll leave with several sheets of handmade paper and the know-how to keep creating at home.
Takeaways:
-Learn inexpensive tools and materials for papermaking
-How to make your own mould and deckle
-Create several sheets of handmade paper to take home
-Experiment with adding color and embedding natural elements
