Mala & Prayer Bead Making Workshop
Join us for a peaceful, creative workshop where you’ll learn the art and tradition of mala and prayer bead making. Whether you want to create a full mala, half mala, mini mala, or even a rosary, this workshop gives you the freedom to design something meaningful and completely personal.
What’s Included
A brief history of malas and prayer beads, their purpose, and how they are traditionally used.
All the materials needed to create one of the following:
Full Mala – 90–100+ beads
Half Mala – approximately 45–55 beads
Mini (¼) Mala – approximately 27 beads
Guidance on traditional mala-making guidelines, including bead counts and layout.
A wide selection of beads and accents to choose from:
wood, stone, glass, metal, bone, seeds, spacers, and more.
The opportunity to choose your own guru bead/large focal bead from those provided, or bring one from home if it holds personal significance.
Hands-on instruction in several construction techniques, then time to work freely and intuitively on your design.
The ability to design your own layout before stringing, ensuring your mala or prayer beads reflect your style, intention, and energy.
Special Notes
If you’d like to make a rosary, please bring your own crucifix.
If you prefer to bring all your own materials, you’re welcome to join the class for instruction and guidance only.

Full Mala (90–100+ beads): $69
Half Mala (45–55 beads): $49

Instruction Only / Bring Your Own Materials: $19
Please note: Malas do not need to be made from identical beads—creative combinations and mixed materials are encouraged! There will be plenty of beads available for everyone to share. If you need a specific type of bead or want your mala to be made entirely from one material, please bring your own supplies, as we cannot guarantee full matching sets from our shared collection.

Make your own Vanilla Extract
What You’ll Learn:
This workshop will include a fascinating educational component where we’ll explore:
The history of vanilla and the various types of vanilla beans
The best types of alcohol to use (and why!)
How to customize the strength of your extract
A secret method experienced makers swear by!
A bonus recipe from one of our members.
How Many Vanilla Beans?
Vanilla beans can be pricey (typically $13 for just 2 beans at local stores). For this project, you’ll need at least 6 beans per 8oz of alcohol, so we’ll purchase beans in bulk to provide the best possible value.
Ticket Options:
Included in each price is 4 - 2oz glass bottles to bottle your vanilla in later for gifts.
8-12oz jar: $45 (good value)
We will be using jars that are slightly larger in order to account for bean displacement so that you can yield the greatest amount of extract.
Aging Your Vanilla Extract:
Vanilla extract requires at least six months (preferably a year) to develop its full flavor.
Workshop Details:
Class Size: Limited to under 10 participants for an intimate, hands-on experience
Refreshments: Light refreshments provided
What to Bring: Your own 35%-40% ABV (70-80 proof) alcohol
Suggestions: Vodka, white rum, or gold rum (no need for anything expensive!)
Forgot your alcohol? No problem—there are liquor stores nearby.
Mark Your Calendar:
For holiday gifting, you will want to rebottle your extract into 2oz or 4oz bottles. So, we will meet again in November 2026 to bottle your vanilla for gifts and perhaps create a new batch for the future! Or you can paint your mini bottles at this event. Tickets for bottles and beans will be sold at that time.

Ticket sales for Vanilla Extract are closed on Jan 13th, 11:59pm. When you purchase a ticket, you'll be added to our mailing list to receive updates on future painting events (sent 1-2 times a month). You can unsubscribe anytime.
All tickets must be purchased by January 10th in order to have all the materials here on time.
Please Note: All sales are final. No refunds. If you can't make it, you will be able to pick up your vanilla beans and jar from me at a designated time and place.
