About this Event
Join us at King John’s Castle for “Make Your Own Jingle Bells”, a workshop for ages 5–12 exploring music, creativity, and the joyful sounds of bells. Children learn about the origins of “Jingle Bells” and the historic role of bells in Ireland’s churches, monasteries, villages, and castles.
They create their own handheld jingle bell instrument using simple craft materials, decorate it, and experiment with shaking and ringing techniques. The session also includes a short group music activity with an easy rhythm pattern and a playful “castle parade” using their new instruments.
Children leave with their own handmade jingle bells and an understanding of how bells have connected communities throughout Irish history and how they became part of festive celebrations like Christmas.
Please note, all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the workshop.
