About this Event
Crys Matthews and Flamy Grant are hitting the holiday roads this December for a new rendition of their winter favorite in-the-round songwriters series. And they're bringing along some of their LGBTQ+ artist friends, including Spencer LaJoye who will be joining them in Maryville. Don your gay apparel and come out for this new annual tradition of queer stories and songs, perfect for gathering your chosen (or born-into!) family and celebrating the season.
Crys Matthews is among the brightest stars of the new generation of social justice music-makers. A powerful lyricist whose songs of compassionate dissent reflect her lived experience, she lightheartedly calls herself the "the poster-child for intersectionality. She is the 2017 grand prize winner for the Lincoln Center's New Song Music and Performance Competition.
Flamy Grant is the shame-slaying, hip-swaying, singing-songwriting drag queen who spun heads when she topped the Christian music charts in 2023. A powerhouse vocalist and award-winning songwriter based in Asheville, NC, she blends folk, gospel, and roots, immersing audiences in a theatrical, therapeutic, and wholly original experience of intrepid storytelling and song, all delivered through the evocative art of drag. Flamy is a winner of the 2023 Kerrville New Folk songwriting competition.
Spencer LaJoye is a singer/songwriter from the Midwest making queer indie folk music for everyone. The 2021 Kerrville Songwriting Competition and 2024 Songwriter Serenade winner spins crystalline vocals through a loop pedal while strumming an acoustic guitar in charming, banter-heavy performances that keep audiences laughing one moment and weeping the next.
