In 2022 we worked with Shona from The Village Storytelling Centre to develop the story of Mary Hill and we have tried to fill in the gaps around what is known about her. Like many historical women, there is not a lot of information about her. With this new project we are hoping to create a 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, more permanent impact by developing a comic book with the help of the community.
The scope of the project is to represent as many voices as we can, tapping into the wider history of Maryhill but in a creative way.We are working with storyteller Shona again and Paul from Magic Torch Comics CIC who uses comic books to tell historical stories.
Below is a sneak preview of one of the pages by artist Chelsea Turner, visualising the story of Mary Hill.
