About this Event
Curtis Sliwa, is a renowned community leader, activist, broadcaster, and founder of the Guardian Angels. Let's Talk about the Future of New York!
In 1979, at just 24 years old, Curtis Sliwa founded the Guardian Angels in response to New York City’s rising crime and fears about public safety. Under his visionary leadership, the Guardian Angels expanded globally, serving communities through crime prevention, youth mentoring, EMS assistance, self-defense training, and homeless outreach.
Today, Curtis Sliwa and the Guardian Angels remain as vital as ever. With rising concerns over public safety and the inability of Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul’s administrations to adequately address crime in New York’s subways, the Guardian Angels have stepped in to fill the void. Their presence has provided a much-needed sense of security for countless commuters who have been left feeling unsafe in the city’s transit system.
This year, Curtis Sliwa is running for mayor of New York City, determined to make the city work for its residents. With decades of experience organizing grassroots efforts, Sliwa is uniquely positioned to tackle the challenges of rising crime, corruption, and affordability. He is committed to restoring civic pride and safety by empowering communities and addressing the city’s most pressing issues head-on.
